Motto: Nemo Me Impune Lacessit - (No one attacks me with impunity). "The Scots Guards Piper" is one of our speciality "Regimental" pieces. Authenticated always by the current Colonel of the appropriate formation, these series form an accurate figurative history of the British Army.
The Scots Guards were formed in 1642. the Regiment was intended by King Charles I to be his Royal Guard and from this date the history of the Scots Guards begins.
The contemporary drawing shows a famous incident at the battle of Steenkirk, in 1692, when Colonel Sir Robert Douglas recovers a captured colour and returns it to his men before he is himself shot and killed.
In 1712 Queen Anne changed the name of the Regiment to the Third Regiment of Foot Guards and laid down the designs of the 16 badges which formed those of three battalions and of the first 13 companies.
The Regiment has seen active service in many wars.
